Features

Why Tiland

  • Free to play

Everything in the game is free. An optional premium unlocks extra content.

  • Ranked ladder

Every ranked match moves your rating. Climb the ranks against players of your level.

  • A new island every game

Tiles, numbers and harbours are generated for each match. No fixed map to learn by heart.

  • Decrees change the island

Before each game you draft three decrees: cards that change the island while you play. Move a number, close a harbour, make a tile pay double.

  • No hidden victory points

Every point is on the board. No secret point cards, so you always know who is winning.

  • Three rewards

Grand Road for the longest road, Grand Army for the most Mercenaries played, Harbour Warden for the most harbours.

  • A new court deck

Court cards replace the classic deck. Astrologer picks the dice total, Tithe collects a resource from every rival, Strongbox blocks the next steal.

  • Play with friends

Custom tables for 2–6 players, bots fill empty seats, invite by link or room code.

Rules in short

How it plays

  1. Place two settlements, each with a road.

  2. Each turn, roll two dice. Every tile with that number pays its resource to the settlements around it.

  3. Trade resources with other players, or with the bank. Harbours give you a better rate.

  4. Spend resources on roads, settlements, cities and court cards.

  5. On a 7 the bandit moves and blocks a tile. Anyone holding too many resources discards half.

  6. The first player to reach the target score wins.

The draft

Decrees

Decrees are cards that change the island itself. Before the game, every player drafts three. Each one is played at a set moment of the match, and its change stays until the end.

Numbers

  • ReassessmentSwap the numbers of two tiles that are at most two pips apart.
  • Tax RevisionMove one tile’s number one step up or down, never onto 6, 7 or 8.

Land

  • Rich SoilA tile numbered 2, 3, 11 or 12 pays double to settlements and triple to cities.
  • Re-cultivationChange what one tile produces to any resource you choose.

Harbours

  • Free PortTurn a 3:1 harbour into a 2:1 harbour for a resource of your choice.
  • Closed PortShut one harbour for the rest of the game.

Protection

  • Royal WardProtect a tile or harbour from every later decree.
  • RestorationUndo every decree on one tile or harbour.

Court cards

The court deck

Court cards are bought with resources and played on your turn. None of them is worth a point. The deck grows with the number of players.

  • MercenaryMove the bandit and steal a resource from a player next to its new tile. Counts toward Grand Army.
  • Royal RoadYour next two roads this turn are free.
  • Good HarvestTake any two resources from the bank.
  • NewTitheName a resource. Every other player gives you all of theirs.
  • Trade CharterTrade with the bank at 2:1 until the end of your turn.
  • Master BuilderYour next build this turn costs less.
  • NewAstrologerChoose the dice total before you roll. Never a 7.
  • LevyTake one random resource from every other player.
  • SpySteal up to two random resources from one player.
  • TreasuryPermanent. On a 7 you only discard if you hold more than ten resources.
  • NewRight of WayThis turn your roads may pass through other players’ settlements and cities.
  • NewGleanerTake three random resources from the tiles your buildings touch.
  • NewStrongboxKeep it. It blocks the next theft from you, then it is used up.
